Crossing Over and
Never Looking Back When the children of Isreal crossed over the Red Sea, I would imagine that some of the people felt a
sigh of relief from slavery and looked forward to entering the Promised Land. Although a few wanted to return when faces
with the problems in the wilderness. I believe many were completely finished with the ordeal of slavery for hundreds
of years, through many generations, were relieved of evils and were not willing to turn or look back! God had given them a new beginning
and they were not willing to allow anything take it away from them. Have you thought about your new beginnings? Have you considered
where you were and the consequences of your actions that brought about hardship and pain? Do you want to go back to the pain
and hardship you encountered? I didn’t think so! It is time to cross over and never look back! It is a new season, a
new year and a new beginning that God has granted. Take full advantage of this season, this New Year, and live the abundant
life that the Lord Jesus has promised! Each day God gives us compassion that cannot fail, new mercies that keep us from
being consumed and an abundance of faithfulness that cannot be measured (Lamentations 3:22-23)! Who would want to look back with such grace and glory at hand? Let’s cross over into
this New Year with a mind towards seeing the Promised Land. Whatever held us captive in the old year, let it go and begin
your new journey towards God’s promises which are always yes and amen (II Corinthians 1:20)! Looking back will slow the journey. Be determined to keep moving forward and never look back. All the evils
of the enemy are behind you. Don’t look back. Keep your eyes focused on the promise and it shall come to pass.
God is faithful and will ensure that we get what He has promised. Happy New Year in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ! Bishop Everett H. Jefferson, Sr.
